Is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. There's no last-gen version, and Rockstar has only ever announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you're still on a PS4 or Xbox One, you'll need to upgrade to play it on November 19, 2026.

Is the PS5 Pro worth it for GTA 6?

Too early to call. GTA 6 carries the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label, but Rockstar hasn't said what the enhancements are or what frame rate to expect. Sony's own PS5 Pro page notes that Pro-enhanced features vary by game.

The one hard difference right now is storage. The PS5 Pro comes with a 2TB SSD, against 1TB on the standard PS5 and 825GB on the PS5 Digital Edition (US page). If GTA 6 is your only reason to buy a Pro, wait until Rockstar spells out what the Pro version actually gets.

Will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?

Yes. GTA 6 is listed as “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”, and the Series S is part of that family.

Microsoft sells the Series S with 512GB or 1TB of NVMe storage and no disc drive, and pitches it as a console that targets 1440p and can hit up to 120 FPS in supported content. Those are general console specs. Rockstar hasn't said what resolution or frame rate GTA 6 runs at on Series S.

PS5 or Xbox Series X for GTA 6?

On performance, there's no official answer. Rockstar hasn't published frame rate or resolution targets for either console, so any side-by-side you see right now isn't built on official numbers.

What is confirmed: on PS5 you get DualSense vibration and trigger effect support, while the Xbox version is optimized for Series X|S. The game costs the same on both US stores, $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate.

Which console should you buy for GTA 6?

  • You already own a PS5 or Series X|S: you're set. Nothing official says you need anything newer.
  • You're coming from PS4 or Xbox One: any PS5 or Xbox Series X|S model runs it, so pick based on the games you already own and the controller you prefer.
  • You want the most room: the PS5 Pro's 2TB is the biggest built-in drive of the bunch.
  • You're short on space: the Series S works, but the 512GB model will fill up fastest.
  • You don't have a disc drive: no problem, the physical edition is a download code, not a disc.

FAQ

Does GTA 6 need a disc drive?
No. The boxed version contains a download code instead of a disc, so the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S handle it just like the disc models.
Is GTA 6 on PC?
Not at launch. Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version, a PC date or PC system requirements.
