Is GTA 6 banned in any country?

Not officially. There's no ban announcement from Rockstar, and none from Sony or Microsoft either. What Rockstar did publish is a list of pre-order countries for each store, and that's where most of the ban talk starts: people spot their country missing and assume the worst.

Rockstar's own wording is that GTA 6 “will be made available in additional countries as allowed by platform policies, regional regulations, and age ratings.” A country that's missing today hasn't opened pre-orders on that store yet. That's all it means.

Which countries can pre-order GTA 6?

Each store keeps its own list:

  • PlayStation Store: 62 countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
  • Xbox Store: 39 countries, and every one of them is also on PlayStation's list.
  • Rockstar Store: a separate list again. Türkiye isn't on it, even though PlayStation and Xbox both sell the game there.

The 23 countries that appear only on PlayStation's list include Croatia, Iceland, Romania, Ukraine, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and several Central and South American markets such as Peru, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

Why isn't my country on the GTA 6 list?

Rockstar hasn't given country-by-country reasons. The general answer is the one it already gave: platform policies, regional regulations and age ratings. Ratings are still being finalized in places; on the Turkish PlayStation Store, for instance, GTA 6 shows PEGI 18 marked as provisional.

A pending rating or a missing store listing isn't the same thing as a ban. The safest way to read a missing country is “not yet.”

Can I buy GTA 6 from another country's store?

You can, but region rules get in the way on PlayStation. Rockstar ties GTA 6 PlayStation codes to region groups such as North America, United Kingdom, Japan, and Rest of EMEA and Asia, and a code has to match the region of your account. Xbox codes aren't region-locked.

Rockstar's recommendation is to buy from a retailer in the same country as your platform account.

FAQ

Can you buy GTA 6 in Türkiye?
Yes. It's up for pre-order on the Turkish PlayStation Store and Xbox store at 3,999 TL for Standard and 4,999 TL for Ultimate, even though the Rockstar Store's list leaves Türkiye out.
