Can you play the boxed copy of GTA 6 without downloading it?
No. Rockstar says the code is there so you can preload from November 12. If your internet is slow or you're on a data cap, start that download early instead of waiting for launch day.

How do you turn on offline play on PS5?
Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play. It lets the digital games you've bought start on that console without a connection, and it can only be on for one PS5 at a time. Turn it on for the PS5 you'll actually play on.

Does GTA 6 need to be always online?
It isn't listed as always-online. But offline play doesn't mean you'll never need to connect: Rockstar's store page says some features may need an internet connection or a Rockstar Games account.
Rockstar hasn't said whether the first launch needs a sign-in, so be online the first time you boot it.

Does GTA 6 have co-op or crossplay?
No co-op. The PlayStation listing says 1 player and calls GTA 6 a single-player experience. Jason and Lucia sharing the screen in trailers doesn't mean co-op.
There's no official word on crossplay or on carrying a GTA Online character over, either. There's nothing you need to do with your old GTA Online character right now.
What should you do before launch?
- Start the preload on November 12.
- Free up enough space on your console.
- Sign in with the account that owns the game and turn on offline play.
- Do your first launch while you're online.
No day-one patch has been announced.
