In Europe it’s PEGI 18. PlayStation Store shows PEGI 18 (Provisional) in the UK, France and Türkiye, and the Turkish Xbox store lists PEGI 18 too.

Three big markets are still blank. Germany’s store is waiting on a USK rating, Japan’s page says the CERO review is pending, and the Australian store shows “CTC”, which stands for Check the Classification.

Why does GTA 6 say rating pending?

Because the final ratings haven’t been issued. Store pages carry provisional or pending labels for now, and PlayStation’s GTA VI offer terms say the game’s rating wasn’t final when that page was written.

Rockstar’s own GTA VI pages have a single line on it at the bottom: the game may contain content inappropriate for children, with a pointer to esrb.org for rating information.

Why is GTA 6 rated 18?

PlayStation spells it out on that same offer page. It says Grand Theft Auto games “regularly feature profanities, violence, sexual themes and depictions of illegal acts” and are generally not recommended for children.

Is there an age check to buy GTA 6?

PlayStation’s GTA VI offer terms say you need to meet the age requirements to buy GTAVI and GTA+. The same page points parents to the PlayStation Family app, which can age-restrict PlayStation accounts.

How to block GTA 6 with parental controls

On PS5, a child account sits inside a family group. Games only launch if their age rating is at or below the child’s age, so a PEGI 18 or Mature 17+ game won’t start on a younger kid’s account. If a game is blocked, the child can send you a request for an exception, and you can handle all of it from the PlayStation Family app on your phone.

On Xbox, you set an age limit for the child’s account in your family group. Set it below 17 and Mature 17+ games like GTA 6 are restricted on that account.

Is GTA 6 rated M like GTA 5?
US stores list it as pending with Mature 17+ expected, which is the ESRB’s M rating. PlayStation’s offer page notes that GTA V got an M (Mature 17+) from the ESRB and a PEGI 18.
Is GTA 6 OK for kids?
Not by any rating shown so far, since every store lists it at 17+ or 18. PlayStation also describes the GTA series as a whole as not recommended for children.
When will GTA 6 get its final age rating?
Rockstar hasn’t said yet. The game launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so keep checking the store page for your country as launch gets closer.
